Newsletters
have been around for ages. Lately, they’ve enjoyed a remarkable
resurgence in popularity: businesses have realized that the
newsletter is a key contact point to entice new customers as well as
retain their current ones.
Why
now? Staring down the barrel at the holiday season, eMarketer’s
statistics show that in 2011, retail mcommerce sales were $13
billion. This year that figure climbs to $41 billion and is expected
to rocket to $113 billion in 2017! 44 percent of all email is now
read on a mobile device: smart business owners know their newsletters
must appeal to that ever-growing percentage. A major cause of users
either deleting or unsubscribing from a newsletter lies in its
readability on a phone. If users must scroll to read or, worse, the
content isn’t rendered properly, they often delete instead. How to
rectify this?
A
quick, inexpensive responsive design, of course. A custom
responsive newsletter designs
‘responds’
to the device on which it’s read, no matter the size: it appears
elegant, gorgeous, enticing for readers, and contains a strong CTA.
No
one is more aware of the need for responsive newsletters than Galaxy
Weblinks. Well known for than a decade for their web design and
custom apps, Galaxy has created or updated newsletters for their
clients and an ever-growing group of savvy business owners. Finally
they created Outsourced Newsletter to handle the load: It offers
Galaxy’s well-known unique designs and responsive code at discount
prices.
An ON Newsletter Drives New Membership
Fashionista Cafe has been a client of Galaxy’s since designing and implementing Fashionista’s elegant, unique site. Fashionista required a mobile friendly newsletter design that displayed a high sense of fashion for interior designers, photographers, make-artists and more. Highly web-savvy, they demanded a design that looked wonderful on any device from a large screen TV to a cell phone.
ON was delighted! This was a fun project where we could turn our team loose, knowing it is backed by solid coders. The team was able to showcase Fashionista’s elegance, whilst maintaining full functionality even on a tiny screen: when the newsletter is opened on such a screen, it rearranges itself so that the menu scoots under the Fashionista logo. Check it out here and simply resize your browser screen to see the code in action for yourself.
Fashionista uses their newsletter to announce their news, offer incentives for joining the community, and bring attention to their blog. They informed ON tea, that there was a noticeable upswing in new membership once they launched their newsletter!
